Our meeting in October 2008 will incorporate an Aortic Symposium.   A live Telecast of aortic surgery direct from Austin Health (Melbourne, Victoria) will be included in the program.   The Meeting venue is “Sheraton Noosa Resort”.      The International Guest Presenters are:  Dr Tirone David (Canada), Dr Hazim Safi (USA), Dr Ruggero De Paulis (Italy) and Prof Robert Di Bartolomeo (Italy).    

The meeting will run from Thursday October 15 2008 to Sunday October 19 2008.

The last meeting was held at the Sheraton Noosa Resort and Spa October 15 – 21st, 2007.

Sir Bruce Keogh in a series of excellent lectures told of the history and progress of quality assurance and clinical governance, not as it affects cardiac surgeons in the UK, but also all health care practitioners. He detailed the events leading up to individual surgeon data being published.

In a fascinating talk, Dr Ratnesh Lal provided an overview of nano technology. His insights into how this technology will apply to cardiac surgery gave a fascinating glimpse into the future.

Bill Brawn talked of outcomes in complex paediatric cardiac surgery, in particular the progress in the management of Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.

Thomas Pfeffer provided an overview of the role of Laser Revascularisation in otherwise inoperable CAD.

The AGM was held on Friday afternoon. Details including the minutes and reports are published elsewhere on this website.

The TAG prize this year was won by Michael Byrom.
