The Database has shifted from the Baker Institute to Monash University Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine. It continues to produce reports for government (including recent publicly available report to the Victorian State Government), surgeons and hospitals. Currently 17 of 24 public hospitals are currently participating and 5 of the remaining 7 showing interest in joining. No NZ hospitals involved. 3 of 21 private hospitals involved and 3 more expressing interest.
Dept Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine at Monash has just been successful in gaining Federal government funding for a cardiac procedures registry, which will involve interventional cardiology, pacemakers, defibrillators and cardiac surgery. We might gain some very useful information about overall cardiac care in
Regular reports have been published and are available from the links on the right. Older reports from the registry which were managed by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare but were discontinued in 1994. Participation of other units, both private and public in addition to those indicated, is awaited. The current dataset is available here. An Australian risk model Ausscore has been established. It will help us to benchmark around the country as well as with other similar databases.
